Top 5 Upcoming Comedy Movies Of 2014

by userMay 21, 2014

Some great comedy movies have been released during the beginning of 2014 such as ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel‘, ‘The Lego Movie’, ‘The Other Woman’ and the recently released ‘Bad Neighbours‘. However, I certainly do believe that ‘the best is yet to come’ because there are still many potential colossal movies to be released throughout this year.

Here are my top 5 upcoming comedies for the rest of 2014.

5) Hot Tub Time Machine 2

This is the sequel to the 2010 film ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’, which generally received positive reviews. The sequel is expected to release in December and will have the likes of Craig Robinson, Adam Scott and Rob Corddry. The first instalment was very popular and appreciated so with a December release for the sequel, I am sure that the sequel will be just as good.

4) Sex Tape

This cast of the movie include Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, who play a couple trying to spice their lives up after having two kids over 10 years. Unfortunately they release a sex tape of themselves, which syncs on to all the iPads that they have gifted to their loved ones. The movie sees them trying to recover and delete these videos. Both Segel and Diaz also starred in ‘Bad Teacher’ together which was a successful movie and therefore, this movie will also have high expectations.
The trailer does seem promising, although the plot may seem a little weak for many people. It is due to release in July.

3) A Million Ways To The Die In The West

The upcoming American Western comedy has been written, directed and co-produced by Seth MacFarlane. In addition, he also stars in the movie, with an amazing cast consisting of Charlze Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris. I think this movie will be a great comedy because the trailer does seem really funny and with such a star-cast, high expectations are certainly riding for this film. It release near the end of May.

2) 22 Jump Street

The sequel to the amazing ’21 Jump Street’ starring the talented cast of Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube.

The superb cast returns, with Greg Jenko (Tatum) and Morton Schmidt (Hill) going undercover in a college, trying to take down a secret drug ring. Again, I have high expectations for this movie, especially after the first instalment. The trailer also looks great and has a release date of early June.

1) Horrible Bosses 2

The sequel to the super successful ‘Horrible Bosses’, which was released back in 2011 and raked in more than $200 million at the box-office.

Most of the cast will be returning including Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Christoph Waltz and of-course Jamie Foxx as Dean “Motherfuckah” Jones. I have to say that the first movie is probably one of my all time favourite comedies due to the presence of such a talented cast and quite a believable and intriguing storyline. I am sure that after so many years, Warner Bros have finally picked a script worthy enough to be the sequel. It is expected to release in December.

Overview

Of course there are other comedies releasing this year such as the long awaited sequel to ‘Dumb and Dumber’, intelligently titled ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ and ‘Night At The Museum 3’, but I personally feel that the movies in my top 5 list have got great potential to be hugely successful at the box-office and will hopefully give us a right good laugh.
