Novel writer Joanne K Rowling finished her most famous novel Harry Potter (The philosophers stone). In 2001 this was made into the first film that would kick of a franchise that has at present generated the most money. Although she never wrote the films, she still made a small profit (to be modest) off of the films for creating the idea. Moreover some people also started to buy her books because of the films.

However, it wasn’t always easy. For instance, she got turned down by over a hundred publishers for her first book, and with the films becoming increasingly popular she would have to quickly devise and write a plot off the spot which she hadn’t planned when she first wrote the first book. On the other hand, she did pull this off brilliantly.

For those who are unfamiliar with the story, Harry Potter is about an ordinary school boy discovers that he’s not so normal after all. It turns out that he has the blood of a wizard and thus is sent to a magical school called Hogwarts where he will learn his craft. Whilst there he meets new friends like Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Not all is as good as it seems though, as Harry is put up against an evil wizard called the Dark Lord or Voldemort who killed Harry’s parents and left him with a scar on his head, forcing him to live with his uncle, aunt and cousin.

When we last saw him he had just defeated the dark lord before we flashed forward 19 years to see that He was married to Ginny and had two children who were going to Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione were married and they also had children going to Hogwarts.  Recently J Rowling released a short story giving us an update on Harry Potter and co on what became of them as can be seen below. She did add however that she will not be writing another book or plan another film for Harry Potter. On that note she is writing a book set in the same universe but 70 years earlier called Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, which is about exactly as the tittle says. It is believed that this book (most likely series) will also be turned into a film (series?).

Hermione and Ron are still married, and Hermione is the head of Hogwarts spells department, meanwhile her Husband Ron is running a joke shop. Ron’s sister Ginny is still married to Harry, who is a detective in the dark arts for the ministry of magic. They have two children together, both of which are boys. Ron and Hermione also have children together but it is unclear how many.

Little known fact; Rowling planned for Dumbledore to be a homosexual, but refrained from wrighting this part of his life in with fear that people may just remember him as that gay wizard.
