JJ Murphy dies after filming just four days of Game of Thrones
JJ Murphy had been cast for Season 5 of the hugely successful HBO show Game of Thrones as Ser Denys Mallister – a new character.
He had collapsed and died suddenly on Friday 8th August at the age of 86 just four days into filming the show and was still set to film more scenes but Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff told The Independent: “We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. “He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended.”
Murphy reportedly told his friends he was ‘excited’ to be a part of the show.
Ser Denys Mallister is a knight of House Mallister and a member of the Night’s Watch. He has commanded the Shadow Tower for thirty-three years. He is an uncle of Lord Jason Mallister.
