Mrs Doubtfire 2 comfirmed to be coming soon

The latest rumour to be spread around is quite an exciting one, (well for some anyway!) According to leading reports, work has begun on the much anticipated sequel to  ‘Mrs Doubtfire’, the classic 1993 comedy starring Robin Williams.

The movie was about Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) who through his divorce  loses custody of his kids, due to his unstable job/lifestyle.  Hillard results to extreme measures to meet his kids by dressing up as the prodigious Scottish housekeeper “Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire”. Nobody is able to recognise Daniel and soon Mrs Doubtfire makes herself an indispensable part of the family.

Apparently work had started on the sequel since 2001 but due to script problems, the idea of a sequel to the hit film was repeatedly being scrapped. Williams also stated that the script had been written several times, but they all simply failed to escalate into something big. However, it seems that Williams is finally ready to don the role of the famous nanny again. Chris Columbus, the director of  ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ will return to direct the sequel and David Berenbaum (the writer of the tremendous Christmas movie ‘Elf’) will be penning the script. Of course, such great figures working on this project does raise the expectations of the viewers, who have been anticipating the release of the sequel for a long period of time.

I personally feel, that Mrs Doubtfire is a movie that I have watched many times in my life and it has never failed to impress. It showed us the extent that a vulnerable father can go to,  in order to spend more time with his kids and generally the extent that parents can go to, to fulfill every little wish of their child’s to make them happy, which was done perfectly through the superb acting and comedy. I certainly do expect something amazing from the upcoming sequel, especially because of the talents working on the project. Since they have got the likes of Berenbaum and Harry Potter director, Columbus on board I am sure that the film will be extra special.

It will certainly need to be special to match the magic created by the original comedy which grossed over $400 million dollars worldwide and also won the Academy Award for Best Makeup.

Unfortunately the arrival of the long-awaited sequel is yet unknown especially because Williams is currently busy with his TV series “The Crazy Ones” and his upcoming movie release “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn”, which also stars Mila Kunis. Nonetheless, now that it looks as if the project has been confirmed, it is now only a matter of time for Mrs Doubtfire to appear on the big screen once again.
