NEON – the new look of Windows 10

Microsoft confirms the existence of NEON during a meeting with developers, offering a first look of the new design of Windows 10.

Project NEON is the name given by Microsoft to indicate the new Windows 10 stylistic path which will be enabled with Redstone 3, expected by the end of the year. The look was revealed as a background image in Microsoft’s sneak peak of Windows 10.

Microsoft XiaoIce: a massive social experiment in China

 

Microsoft released the Chinese version of Cortana, but including other interests in a its new project.

According to Yondong Wang, a senior researcher and scientist working with the company:

“It could be the largest Turing test in history”.

The digital assistant and artificial intelligence was named Xiao Na, included in the release of the Windows Phone 8.1 in China. Developed with the help of Microsoft’s Bing division of software developers and researchers, the artificial intelligence is also designed to offer human-like conversations and can act as a friend on social networks.

Windows 10 launching July 29th

Microsoft announces Windows 10 release date

Microsoft has announced that their next version of Windows – Windows 10 will be available on July 29th as a free upgrade to all genuine customers running Windows 7 and 8.1.

Users will have one year to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Once upgraded, Microsoft will provide free updates for life. You can upgrade by clicking the small Windows icon on the bottom right of your task bar to reserve your free copy and be notified when it launches.

Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows in its current form, after this release future updates will be released in an OS X style manner.
