As part of our new weekly Top Ten lists, it’s time to reflect upon the films of 2013 and rank them according to our personal preference (and not just how much money they raked in). Unlike other lists across the web, our lists do not rank according to only critical praise. We consider more poignant factors such as enjoyability. Before we examine the list for Top 10 films of 2013, let’s take a look at some dishonourable mentions – films that were bad/disappointing and put a dampener on the exceptional standard of films in 2013.

Last nights Golden Globes saw ‘American Hustle’ storm ahead of other contenders as it obtained 3 awards. Forecasters predicted ‘12 Years a Slave‘ would beat ‘American Hustle’ but this wasn’t the case. In my opinion, ‘American Hustle’ rightly deserved those 3 awards and more. Arguably, ‘American Hustle’ was snubbed for best actor in a motion picture comedy and best screenplay and arguably best director. Gravity
It was recently announced that ‘Gravity‘ seized 11 BAFTA nominations making it the lead contender which beat ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘American Hustle’. This didn’t come as a shock to me as I knew the British film institution would favor a film developed in the UK over others such as Russell’s ‘American Hustle’.
