Deadpool has launched to a box office record breaking total of $150 million in the US and $265 million worldwide. The previous record for President’s Day weekend was set by Fifty Shades of Grey which opened at $93 million.
Deadpool was stuck in development for over 10 years until the test footage was leaked online two years ago. Fans bombarded 20th Century Fox with messages that forced them to green light the project. Before this film, Deadpool was last seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine where he received a negative reception partly due to the fact his mouth was sewn shut.

J. J. Abrams latest installment in the Star Wars series Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made box office history as it is the first movie since 2009 to top the domestic haul which was done by Avatar. The Force Awakens has now passed Avatar’s $760.5 million and has now claimed the number one spot. It took James Cameron’s 3D breakthrough months to reach the #1 spot while the J. J. I tried to fend off early criticisms of this film and the whole franchise in general. My criticisms of this film are not concerned with the sustained action and devastation as I understand this is the nature of the film, moreover I think this films failings lie in defects the previous films suffered; an expositional script, weak characters, a repetitive plot and an unjustifiably elongated runtime. The forth sequel is the best sequel to date, but it still fails to rekindle that magic of the first film; that same level of a comedic element isn’t present in this one and unlike the 2007 rendition, no characters really grasps one’s [...]
Mark Webb’s second instalment of the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ looks like a comic book, but lacks the cohesive storyline present in the comics. The plot is web-like as it is chaotic and solely designed to lead up to the ‘Sinister Six’ and this leads to the other strands of the web being scrappy. This films boasts poor dialogue and sloppy writing which hinders the development of the villains, which is one of the biggest flaws this film had. The only redeeming feature of the film is Garfield’s embodiment of Spider-Man. Unfortunately, even this cannot save the film from its confused nature.
