Given the recent dips in the number of mobile units that HTC has shipped, the company has quickly refocused all of its attention to the VR industry. At a developer conference in Shenzhen last year, HTC’s company sales President Chia-lin Chang had confirmed that they were working internally on a mobile VR solution, but had told the audience that it might be a while before we could get our hands on it. Technological advances have made virtual reality a viable mainstream consumer technology. Like most, I am extremely excited for the age of virtual reality, if not a bit apprehensive about its potential effects on our society.
Well, there is not much longer to wait, Facebook’s Oculus Rift is slated for a Q1 2016 release, but the general consensus is that many PCs will not be able to handle the strain of virtual reality.

Oculus VR are a firm known for their Virtual Reality technology that was brought to life by a Kickstarter campaign for their original Oculus Rift Developer Kit 1 VR headset. Rumours have it that their next big project, the Rift headset, is being prepared for its beta test that won’t just be aimed at developers, but the general public too, as up until now it has been recommended that only developers purchase the development kits as they are not ready for consumer use yet. Multiple sources that claim to have knowledge over the matter believe that Oculus will ship several devices in a limited batch by summer 2015.

Notch has announced via Twitter that he was in talks to bring a version of Minecraft to the Oculus Rift but has cancelled the project as Facebook creeps him out.
We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out.

Although Mojang is not going to bring an official version of Minecraft to support the Rift, Notch stated there is an unoffical mod that will do the same thing.
